Your Boy Will Amount to Nothing grew out of two years of work with residents of Holon’s Jessy Cohen neighborhood, where Meir Tati’s childhood memories intersect with the lives of people there today. Working with local residents and Danish artist Søren Dahlgaard, Tati staged moving-wall compositions and dough portraits. He also installed two-way video stations that let residents see and speak to one another across the neighborhood. The exhibition takes its title from a remark a teacher once made to Tati’s mother, turning that judgment into a question about who gets to define a person or a place.
In Little Big Brother, boxes equipped with screens, speakers, cameras and microphones linked public spaces across Holon’s Jessy Cohen neighborhood. They showed interviews, footage by residents and work by artists active in the neighborhood. The live feeds let residents see and speak to one another across locations.
