Little Big Brother connects public places in Jessy Cohen through small boxes, each containing a monitor, speaker, camera, and microphone. Rather than imposing surveillance from above, the project creates a two-way relationship between the artwork and neighborhood residents.
The monitors show Tati’s activities, work by local artists, interviews with residents, and photographs they have taken. The cameras transmit views from the different locations, making these images available to the community and questioning the hierarchy of conventional urban surveillance.
The first boxes were installed in neighborhood spaces including the community center, soup kitchen, and local Hashomer Hatzair youth movement branch.
