I Am Sorry

2024 · Video · 14:37 min

The video work is based on stories I collected from residents of Acre, a mixed Jewish and Arab city in northern Israel. Digital characters read texts drawn from these meetings using artificial intelligence technology. Originally designed for presentations and educational materials, these avatars speak with minimal facial expression and a monotonous tone, creating an impersonal delivery that can appear objective.

As AI-based writing technology becomes more widespread, the place of the human writer becomes increasingly uncertain. Does the writer still have a meaningful role? What is human writing, and what place does it have?

Working with digital characters creates distance between the story and the audience. By combining human testimony with new technology, I want viewers to question the truthfulness of what they see.
